TUCSON, Ariz. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Officers at the Port of Nogales discovered over 100 pounds of hard narcotics concealed in ceramic tile boxes with an estimated street value of more than $1,000,000.00.

Monday morning, a 63-year-old U.S. citizen man attempted to make entry into the United States through the Port of Nogales in his pickup truck and was referred for further inspection. While in secondary, CBP officers conducted a thorough inspection and noticed anomalies with the ceramic tile boxes.

After an alert by a CBP narcotics detection canine to a scent it is trained to detect, officers removed a total of 46 drug packages from the hollowed out tile boxes. The drugs were determined to be 71pounds of fentanyl pills (totaling nearly 300,000 pills), 25 pounds of heroin and more than six pounds of cocaine.

Area Port Director Michael Humphries stated, “This is a phenomenal seizure by our CBP Officers, who in the midst of the current pandemic, still remain focused and carry out the agency’s mission of protecting our frontlines.” He added, “In this case, officers prevented nearly 300,000 fentanyl pills, one of the most abused and dangerous opioids from reaching communities throughout the United States.”

The drugs were seized and the man was arrested and then turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.

To put into perspective how massive this bust is, in the month of June alone, CBP agents seized over $92 million worth of drugs on the border. The cartels are taking a hammering & losing a ton of drug revenue.

PHARR, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility intercepted a huge amount of alleged methamphetamine valued at $30,556,000 that was being smuggled in a commercial tractor/trailer hauling fresh onions from Mexico.

“This is certainly a substantial amount of methamphetamine that won’t make its final destination in the U.S. and seizing these harmful narcotics will most definitely help keep our communities safer,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Port of Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas.

On July 9, 2020, a 35-year-old male Mexican citizen from Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon, Mexico arrived at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge cargo facility driving a tractor/trailer that contained a commercial shipment of fresh onions. A CBP officer referred the shipment for further inspection which included the utilization of non-intrusive imaging (NII) technology and after physically inspecting the entire conveyance, officers discovered 221 packages of alleged methamphetamine weighing 1,527.20 pounds (693 kg) concealed within the roof of the trailer.

CBP OFO seized the narcotics, the 1988 Volvo tractor and 2010 Utility trailer and arrested the driver. Agents with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) continue with the investigation.

Border Patrol Stops Ultra Lite Aircraft Smuggling Attempt – Over $300k Worth Of Meth Seized

The cartels are getting creative with their smuggling attempts. They are most likely feeling the sting from so many of their drug shipments being intercepted by Border Patrol agents at major ports of entry. In June alone, agents with CBP seized over $92 million worth of drugs. At that rate, cartels stand to lose over a billion dollars in drug revenue this year. Cartels are even using smuggling paths that once were only used to smuggle marijuana into the U.S. to bring in hard narcotics such as meth & cocaine.

HEBER, Calif. – El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico Station seize methamphetamine in an Ultra Lite Aircraft smuggling attempt on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:15 a.m., when Border Patrol agents observed an Ultra Lite Aircraft flying at a low altitude west of Highway 111 and south of Jasper Road.

Agents responded to the area and located a white duffle bag and a metal basket on a field road 200 yards south of Jasper Rd. Inside the duffle bag, agents discovered 26 clear plastic containers containing a white crystal like substance. Agents then transported the basket, the duffle bag, and all of its contents to the Calexico Border Patrol Station for further processing.
