Tractor-trailers are being used to smuggle illegal aliens into the country much more frequently. This is about the tenth such attempt in a little over a month.

LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Border Patrol agents intercepted two separate human smuggling attempts within 24-hours of each other at the Border Patrol checkpoint on Interstate 35 (I-35) north of Laredo.

The first incident occurred late in the afternoon of June 6, when a red tractor hauling a white trailer approached the I-35 checkpoint. During an immigration inspection of the driver, a Service canine alerted. Agents opened the locked trailer and discovered 17 individuals inside, all illegally present in the United States from the countries of Mexico, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Colombia, and Honduras. The individuals and the driver, a U.S. citizen, were taken into custody pending further investigation. The tractor was turned over to the Webb County Sheriff’s Office as it had been reported as stolen.

The second incident occurred during the mid-morning of June 7, when agents at the I-35 checkpoint encountered a second red tractor hauling a white trailer. During a non-intrusive scan of the vehicle, agents observed several individuals in the trailer. The driver attempted to exit the checkpoint, but agents performed a vehicle stop. Agents discovered 16 individuals inside the refrigerated trailer. The individuals were all from the country of Mexico, and found to be illegally present in the United States. Agents arrested the driver and passenger, both United States citizens, and the individuals pending further investigation. The tractor and trailer were seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.

During processing, record checks for a female Mexican national, later identified as Maria Guadalupe PEINADO-Sanchez, revealed a previous arrest by the Foley, Alabama Police Department. A judge found her guilty of being complicit of aiding and abetting the sexual abuse of a child. The judge sentenced her to 10 years confinement, which was subsequently reduced to three years probation.

Border Patrol referred PEINADO-Sanchez for criminal prosecution.

OCOTILLO, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested an illegal alien on Tuesday convicted of a sexual offense.

The incident occurred at around 5:08 p.m., when agents assigned to the Mountain Disrupt Unit working in the Jacumba Wilderness apprehended an illegal alien. The illegal alien was placed under arrest and transported to El Centro Station for further processing.

At the station, agents conducted a criminal background investigation and medical screening. During the investigation, record checks revealed that the man, a 42-year-old illegal alien from Mexico, had a conviction on March 14, 2010, for “Felony Lewdness with a child under 16 years old” out of Nye County in Nevada. The illegal alien was sentenced to 156 months confinement for his conviction.

An update from Foreman Mike. WATCH:

Additionally, an Immigration Judge had previously ordered the illegal alien removed from the United States on September 23, 2005.

The illegal alien was processed criminally for 8 USC 1326 Reentry of Removed Aliens.

In fiscal year 2020, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have arrested and removed 41 individuals either convicted or wanted on sexual offense charges after they entered the United States illegally.
